Spacebar

A very useful guide for starting to build a ship and also for fine tuning/tweaking any build that you already have is http://hilbertguide.com Also available from The Hilbert guide is a combat parser written for ACT (Advanced Combat Tracker)

One of the most useful items on this page is information about the Spacebar.txt file. This file when copied and saved onto your computer in the STO directory allows you to automatically trigger each of the abilities that you have loaded onto your tray 7 as well as automatically balances your shields every time you hit the spacebar. Once you have this file on and working as per the directions on the website you can be in orbit around ESD and use your spacebar to try out the timing and see how the abilities are triggered one by one and adjust the order in which they are situated in the tray.

In the classic fashion of our fleet we are always seeking to improve on things that we have. Timmeh had the idea of adding to the spacebar file to trigger another tray with a different button and Scardey and Brielle were able to re-write the file to allow the "End" key to trigger tray 6. This can be very useful in a tight situation by rapidly allowing you to quickly cycle all of your available hull and shield heals loaded into tray 6. Below is the code that needs to be saved as a .txt file in your STO directory to accomplish this:

Button4 "+power_exec Distribute_Shields"\\

Space "GenSendMessage HUD_Root FirePhasers$$+trayExecBytray 6 0$$+trayexecbytray 6 1$$+trayexecbytray 6 2$$+trayexecbytray 6 3$$+trayexecbytray 6 4$$+trayexecbytray 6 5$$+trayexecbytray 6 6$$+trayexecbytray 6 7$$+trayexecbytray 6 8$$+trayexecbytray 6 9$$+power_exec Distribute_Shields"\\

END "GenSendMessage HUD_Root $$+trayExecBytray 5 0$$+trayexecbytray 5 1$$+trayexecbytray 5 2$$+trayexecbytray 5 3$$+trayexecbytray 5 4$$+trayexecbytray 5 5$$+trayexecbytray 5 6$$+trayexecbytray 5 7$$+trayexecbytray 5 8$$+trayexecbytray 5 9$$+power_exec Distribute_Shields"\\

T "team Target: » $target «"

After learning about maximizing DPS we have managed to learn that sometimes the Hilbert guide bind can mess with the activation of your skills and activate them out of order. This problem exists largely in part due to the fact that the keybind activates too many abilities and causes problems with global cooldown if you use the space bar too often. I have been able to re-write the file to remove the fire all weapons and balance shields to be on the "x" key and also activate 2 bars (6 & 7) with separate keys (space & alt) to allow for 2 different sets of attack or defense regiments. Most of the information I now know about keybinds is from http://www.ifes.us/index.php/how-keybinds-work and is worth a look to learn a bit more about placement of abilities in your bar.

Space "+trayExecBytray 6 0$$+trayexecbytray 6 1$$+trayexecbytray 6 2$$+trayexecbytray 6 3$$+trayexecbytray 6 4$$+trayexecbytray 6 5$$+trayexecbytray 6 6$$+trayexecbytray 6 7$$+trayexecbytray 6 8$$+trayexecbytray 6 9"

Alt "+trayExecBytray 5 0$$+trayexecbytray 5 1$$+trayexecbytray 5 2$$+trayexecbytray 5 3$$+trayexecbytray 5 4$$+trayexecbytray 5 5$$+trayexecbytray 5 6$$+trayexecbytray 5 7$$+trayexecbytray 5 8$$+trayexecbytray 5 9"

X "GenSendMessage HUD_Root FireAll$$+Power_Exec Distribute_Shields"

t "team Target: [$target]"

if you are already using spacebar.txt and replace it with this code and save it you will need to re-bind spacebar.txt in game to get it to work
